Changes For The 2024 Toyota Tundra Model Year – What’s New?

New 2024 Toyota Tundra Changes

Toyota Announces Several Changes For The 2024 Tundra Model Year – New Colors, New Packages, And A Limited Edition 1794

The 3rd Gen Tundra is now in its 3rd model year. Toyota has realized this and given us several updates to various trims to rekindle that new-like feeling for their 3-year-old truck. In this article, we will go over some trim-level updates for Limited, Platinum, and TRD Pro. We will also touch on a new Limited Edition trim coming out later this spring. Lastly, we will wrap up with some color updates for the 2024 model year.

Let’s get into it!

Tundra Limited Changes

2024 Tundra Limited TRD Off Road

The 2024 Tundra Limited will come standard now with a 12.3″ digital gauge cluster. This was previously an optional upgrade but is now standard for all Limited models.

Other subtle but welcomed changes involve the TRD Off-Road packages on the Limited. Gone are all of the annoying mixed-matched chrome pieces. If you get a new Tundra Limited with the TRD Off-Road Package, you now get a color-matched grille surround, door handles, blacked-out mirror caps, and rear bumper surround. This almost makes the Limited look like a TRD Pro, which is fitting since the TRD Pro is built on that trim.

Speaking of deleting chrome, Toyota is now offering the new Nightshade package (pictured above). It features several black-out accents like 20-inch wheels, over-fenders, grille, mirror caps, and badges. This package is available exclusively on Limited trim levels.

Tundra Platinum Changes

2024 Tundra Platinum Lunar Rock

I guess I was a year too late when ordering my Tundra Platinum. New for 2024, the Tundra Platinum 4×4 models can now be outfitted with the TRD Off-Road package. The result is premium creature comforts and trail-ready performance all wrapped up in one incredible truck. My truck is a 4×4, but it would have been nice to have the rear locker, crawl control, and MTS, just in case.

The last minor change for the Platinum grade has to deal with some package configurations. In previous years, if you wanted a HUD, you had to also opt for the AVS suspension package. For 2024, that is no longer the case and you can now select each option separately.

1794 Limited Edition

I have already covered the 3rd Gen 1794 Edition Tundra but to recap, this will be a limited production run of only 1,500 units for the 2024 model year. It is a collaboration project between Saddleback Leather Co. and Toyota USA.

The 1794 Edition has a unique interior along with TRD Pro suspension underneath. Yes, you read that right, a Limited, 1794 Edition, with a rich leather interior, and TRD Pro suspension. I can’t wait to see the price tag on this beast.

Tundra TRD Pro Changes

2024 Tundra TRD Pro Terra

Black headliner! Again for everyone in the back, black headliner! I know this isn’t a significant change, but if you know what the interior of the TRD Pro Tundra looks like, then you know the cream headliner of previous years was horrible. It clashed with the dark technical camo interior and looked god awful with the cockpit red interior. So, a black headline is a much-welcomed improvement.

TRD Upper Control Arms also make their debut now on the 2024 TRD Pro. When Toyota came out with their billet UCAs on the 2022 Tacoma TRD Pro, they were complemented with an extra inch or so lift via the Fox Suspension. Unfortunately, the Tundra didn’t get the same treatment.

I feel they added these UCAs for two reasons – First, for improved ride characteristics, and second, for alignment purposes. The TRD Pro is notorious for having subpar alignment from the factory with owners needing to warranty tires after less than 10K miles. I have a hunch that the new TRD UCAs help provide a better factory alignment.

Color Changes

2024 Tundra Colors

Unfortunately, Army Green is gone! Toyota will discontinue the popular color for the 2024 model year.

Speaking of popular colors, Lunar Rock makes its way onto Platinum models for the first time on the 3rd Gen Tundra. Solar Octane makes its return for the 2024 model year as well.

Toyota seems to do this every year which is kind of annoying, if I have to be honest. They take the once-exclusive TRD Pro color from the previous year and bring it back on the TRD models the following year. Case in point, Solar Octane will also be available on TRD Sport and TRD Off-Road models for 2024.

So, what replaces Solar Octane on the TRD Pro then? That would be Terra, which is only available on TRD PRO grades (for now). This color is a very reddish-brown gloss color, reminiscent of Terra Cotta.

Final Thoughts

2024 Tundra 1794 Limited Edition

Are these updates enough to make you want to purchase a new 2024 Toyota Tundra? Are you a current owner looking to trade up to the new model just for a certain color or package option? Personally, as much as I would like to have a Platinum with the TRD Off-Road package, it just doesn’t make sense. The current auto loan rates aren’t the best, and I still have some more modifications to do to mine.

Let us know in the comments what you think of the 2024 Tundra changes! Let us know what color and trim you would get.
