Versatile Dash Mounting Solution For Unlimited Accessory Combinations
Let’s be honest, the top of the 3rd Gen’s dashboard leaves much to be desired. The small storage bin with the 12V plug was a thoughtful design by Toyota, however, items placed inside can be out of view and are unsecured. Due to this, people can’t properly utilize the space and some don’t bother to use it at all.
Cali Raised has designed a rigid dash mount that allows more efficient use of this space and secures items like your phone or GoPro. It utilizes a steel plate to mount accessories and has 12 holes for versatile placement.
The mount is incredibly durable, using 12-gauge, cold-rolled steel ensuring a vibration-free experience. The installation took me no more than 15 minutes with simple hand tools. Another huge bonus about this product is that no drilling is required!

Installation

The installation process is very simple. All you need is a couple of simple hand tools. You can find Cali Raised’s installation video here. It took me less than 15 minutes, including taking photos for this article. Otherwise, this would’ve taken me 5 minutes.
Tools Required
- Ratchet
- 10mm Socket
- Socket Extension
- 4mm Allen Wrench/Hex Key
- Flashlight (optional)
- Auto Trim Removal Set (optional)
Step 1. Remove Storage Bin

Using a plastic auto-trim removal tool, work it around the edges of the storage bin to progressively unclip it out. You can also use a flathead screwdriver or your hands, just be careful not to scratch the plastic.
Once the bin is removed, disconnect the wire from the back of the 12V plug. You can also remove the plug from the storage bin and reinstall it to the Cali Raised dash mount. I opted not to reuse this plug and instead used that space for my SwitchPro control wire.
Step 2. Install Bracket

Once you have removed the storage bin, look down inside your dashboard. A flashlight will be handy here. On top of the radio unit, you will see (4) 10mm bolts (2 bolts on each side). Unscrew these bolts, align your mounting bracket holes, and screw the bolts back in. You’ll likely need to use a socket extension here.

This is what the mounting plate should look like once installed.
Step 3. Install Dash Mount

With the mount bracket firmly tightened in place, the final step is to install your dash mount plate. Use (4) pairs of the provided screws and washers to secure your dash mount to the mounting bracket. Then, hand tighten the screws using a 4mm Allen/hex key. That’s all there is! You are now ready to install your accessories.
Review

After a couple of weeks of using the Cali Raised dash mount, I am very impressed with its quality.
They’ve also collaborated with TackForm, which develops mounting arms for dash mounts. I currently use two short arms with a 20mm ball attachment for my SwitchPros controller and GoPro. Having taken two trips over rough terrain, they have been rock solid holding my accessories. I plan on purchasing more mounting arms for my phone and radio mic.
Final Thoughts

I love this product because everything important to me is now in my peripheral vision. With it, I can see everything clearly without obstructing my view between the windshield and keep my eyes on the road. Plus, all my accessories are within arm’s reach.
I absolutely recommend this versatile product to anyone wanting to organize their essential gear. It helped de-clutter my center console, freeing up space for all my drinks and snacks while hitting the trails.
