Why You Need Quick Fist Clamps & Rago Mounts?

These robust mounts raise Quick Fist clamps by over 21mm, a major advantage over direct single-bolt mounting. This extra height prevents gear interference, maximizes storage space, and eliminates the annoying noise and rattles caused by tools vibrating against roof racks or truck beds.
The system provides a clean, organized, and secure truck bed, preventing heavy items from dangerously sliding around off-road or in traffic. They are perfect for hanging axes, shovels, extension cords, flashlights, fishing rods, and even farm (Hi-Lift) jacks. As long as your gear falls within the weight limits and clamp diameters, the mounting configurations are limited only by your imagination.

Installation

Tools Required
- 1/4 or 3/8 Ratchet
- 3/16 Hex Bit
- 5/32 Hex Bit
- 7/16 Standard Socket
- 1/2 Deep Socket
- 7/16 Combination Wrench
- 1/2″ Combination Wrench
Step 1. MOLLE Panel Installation (If Required)

The clamps are fantastic, but can be a little hard to install once MOLLE panels are secured in place. So, plan to install the backing plate and bracket onto the panels before mounting the panel in or on your truck.
Step 2. Prep Quick Fist Clamps

A new Quick Fist clamp can be rigid, fresh out of the package. Use two hands to open the jaws vertically and then pull each jaw once or twice. Close the jaws, and then open and close the strap a couple of times. This may sound a little silly, but it will help prepare the clamp for use prior to installation.
For applications at or near the maximum opening of 2.25″ (57mm), the clamp will need to be installed with the Rago Fabrication bracket first, with more detail in Step 6 below.
Step 3. Assemble Mount

The backer plate will be installed on the opposite side of your bracket.
The two larger button-head socket cap screws will be required, along with washers, the plate for the Quick Fist clamp, and the smaller Nylon nuts. Do not use thread lock, as it will degrade the plastic and compromise the fastener
Step 4. Hardware Modification (Optional)

Using 5/16-18 x 1-3/4″ and 1/4-20 x 3/4″ hex head bolts makes it easier to move things around. While the included button-head screws work perfectly and protect against scratches, hex bolts allow the use of a 1/2″ and 7/16″ ratcheting wrench. This simplifies installation and removal without needing to detach the Quick Fist clamp first.
If you plan to leave the setup as is, the supplied hardware is sufficient. However, adding four stainless steel washers under the hex bolts is a cheap, worthwhile upgrade to protect the aluminum mount from over-tightening.
Step 5. Install Quick Fist Mount & Backing Plate

To install the Quick Fist clamp mounts, use the provided 1/4-20 button-head socket cap screws, washers, and nylon lock nuts with a 5/32″ hex key and a 7/16″ wrench, placing the backer plate on the opposite side of the mount. If desired, you can add a 3/8-16 carriage bolt and nylon lock nut using a 9/16″ wrench for extra security.
While not strictly required by the instructions, adding washers under the front button-head screws helps distribute the fastener surface area more evenly and protects the aluminum mount from scratches. However, washers on the reverse side are mandatory, as they protect the aluminum from damage caused by the rotating locking elements.
Step 6. Secure Clamp To Mount

To secure the Quick Fist clamp to the mount, use a 1/4″ ratchet with a 3/16″ hex bit socket for the button-head screws, and a second ratchet with an SAE six-point socket or a 1/2″ combination wrench for the nylon insert lock nut. Take care not to over-tighten the fasteners.
While not required, adding an extra set of washers under the button-head screws is an inexpensive way to protect the aluminum finish and clean up the look of the mounts.
Step 7. Using Quick Fist Clamps

The Quick Fist Clamp is uber simple. To install tools, jacks, or other items into the jaws, place both thumbs on the strap and push the strap to reach the desired tightness. Repeat for additional clamps. If you have small-diameter objects, push the jaw without the strap inside the other jaw and tighten the strap on top of the jaw.
Step 8. Max Opening Prep (If Required)

Now that Quick Fist mounts are installed, you can prepare the rubber to stretch properly. Use two hands to open the jaws vertically and pull each jaw once or twice individually. Close the jaws and open and close the strap several times to accommodate applications at, or near, the maximum opening diameter of 2.25″ (57mm),
Step 9. Hi-Lift Jack Mount (If Required)

Use three Quick Fist clamps evenly spaced along the steel bar of the jack. To mount the jack, hold it parallel to the three clamps. Put one end of the jack into a QuickFist clamp, with the bolt through the steel bar, and lock the clamp loosely. Next, place the steel bar into the other two clamps and lock. After all three clamps are holding the jack, tighten as necessary.
Be aware that the packaging lists two as required, but the End Of The Road OEM recommends three.
Step 10. Verify Fitment

Double-check that all hardware used for the mounts is secure but not over-tightened, and that all Quick Fist Clamps are properly adjusted to ensure the items being stowed are secure. Note that the carriage bolt may or may not be required for your installation. That’s it! Enjoy your new Quick Fist mounts improved with the mounting options and standoff provided by the quality mounts from Rago Fabrication!
Observations & Possible Improvements

As you can see in the photo above, it’s important to install the mount before the Quick Fist as the space between is limited. That’s not a negative, and I found Rago Fabrication’s mount is the only one that offers access – PERIOD. Many other Quick Fist mounts offer little or no access to the mount bolts, require complete disassembly, and lack the carriage bolt feature. Also, instead of being CNC cut, they are simply bent, which weakens the aluminum.
I did try to use hex Allen keys, but they were still a little too tall to fit unless cut down to 1/2 length to avoid stripping the button-head socket cap screws.

Using 1/4-20 x 3/4 hex head bolts allows the entire unit to be removed and/or reinstalled without first extracting the two button-head socket cap screws and bracket on the Quick Fist mount. I found this easier and more efficient. It’s also much harder to round a hex than a hex button-head socket cap. The last benefit is 11mm, and 7/16 are almost identical, and the rest of the hardware is all 1/2″.

Swapping to 5/16-18 x 1 3/4″ hex bolts is a clever way to eliminate Allen wrenches and minimize your trail toolkit. While standard hex heads increase the risk of scratching gear compared to Rago’s low-profile button screws, it is a worthwhile trade-off for a streamlined setup – plus, the leftover factory hardware can be saved for future projects.
The preference for metric hardware is incredibly valid. Since modern trucks like the Tundra use metric fasteners, standard SAE hardware forces you to carry extra tools just for aftermarket accessories. Moving to a unified metric standard would significantly simplify trailside adjustments and lighten any recovery pack.
Final Thoughts

These robust mounts raise Quick Fist clamps by 21mm to provide the critical clearance needed for roof and cargo racks, reducing gear interference and freeing up valuable truck bed space. They install flawlessly with the Rago Factory Bed Rail Modular Accessory Mount, offering exceptional positioning flexibility. If you use MOLLE panels, this mount can be placed anywhere with matching holes, keeping your truck bed clean, organized, and secure while eliminating annoying tool rattle. A standout feature is Rago’s unique design, which allows you to access or adjust the mount without removing the entire Quick Fist clamp.
The system is incredibly versatile for securing a wide range of gear, including axes, machetes, shovels, extension cords, flashlights, fishing rods, and K9 equipment. For Hi-Lift jacks, I prefer their dedicated jack mounts. While the inclusion of the various nut and bolt sizes is appreciated, the hardware could be improved by switching to metric measurements and replacing the button-head socket cap screws with hex-head screws to reduce the number of tools required for installation. Ultimately, though, this USA-made system delivers exactly as advertised and functions perfectly.
